Aluminum vs carbon fiber, which should I choose?

Both are great options. Aluminum is the workhorse. Strong, takes a beating, the standard choice. Carbon fiber is the upgrade if you want lighter weight and stiffer performance. Both last decades if you take care of them. Both are built to the same standard.

What length pole do I need for my boat?

Rupp has a database that can give you an exact recommendation for your year, make, and model, but a rough guide for center console boats is 15' poles for boats up to 30', 18' to 22' for boats 32' to 40', and 24'+ for the super centers. For sportfish boats, please call and we will give you a specific recommendation and quote.

Telescoping vs fixed length, which is better?

Telescoping gives you flexibility for travel, storage, or different conditions. Fixed-length is stiffer and slightly lighter at the same length. The choice is yours.

Can I pull dredges?

Yes. Rupp outriggers are engineered and tested for real-world offshore fishing, including pulling teasers and dredges.

Keep in mind that the outriggers are only one part of the system. The load placed on the mounting surface, whether hardtop, tower, or gunwale, can vary significantly depending on trolling speed, dredge size and design, sea conditions, and how the dredge is rigged.

Always use good judgment. If the setup appears to be placing excessive strain on the outriggers or mounting structure, reduce the load, adjust the pulling point, or contact our team for guidance. We're happy to help you determine the best setup for your boat.
